School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs)

A School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT) allows students to combine paid employment, vocational training, and secondary school studies while working toward a nationally recognised qualification.

At Corryong College, SBATs give students the opportunity to:

• Gain real-world industry experience while completing their VCE or VCE Voca-tional Major.
• Work one day per week (or equivalent hours) with a local employer.
• Complete a VET qualification related to their career interests.
• Build valuable workplace skills and connections that can lead directly into full-time apprenticeships or employment after school.

SBATs are a fantastic option for students who prefer hands-on learning and want to get a head start on their career while still achieving their secondary school certificate.
